On the streets of Taipei, you see monks selling dried calabashes on the street side. In Chinese culture, calabashes as a sign of health. Calabash is pronounced "hulu" in Chinese. Using calabash as an inspiration, I created Hooloop by spinning a block of wood on a lathe. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The curvaceous form of the Calabash is playful and cute. By lengthening out the form, I sought out a look of elegance and timelessness.
